We’ve expanded our board of trustees to reflect our continuing growth.
We are delighted to announces our newly expanded Board of Trustees, including four new members appointed in July. The Board now comprises seven members with expertise from across the charitable, public and international development sectors. The three existing members – Oli Brown, Sarah Njeri and chair of the board, David Cullen – are joined by Rachel Soper, Serene Murad, Pete Gascoigne and Micol Martini.
New perspectives in a time of growth
With CEOBS continuing to expand our recent round of trustee recruitment focused on bringing in the knowledge and experience we need to help us in our journey. We had a fantastic response to the campaign and are delighted to announce that the following four trustees have joined our board.
New member Pete Gascoigne has a long career in UK local government and social enterprise and has previously served as a trustee director of two locally focused arts organisations. Rachel Soper is Senior Project Manager for Engagement at Students Organising for Sustainability, leading on the UNESCO award-winning Green Impact programme. Micol Martini is a Senior Expert on Environmental Governance and Conflict with WWF International, with previous experience in the UK FCDO and UNDP. Serene Murad serves as the Regional Climate Deputy for the Americas and Global Digital and Data Deputy at Dalberg Advisors, having expertise in the intersection of climate, conflict and artificial intelligence.
Our four new members join our three current trustees. David Cullen has a background in environmental and social justice and disarmament campaigning and is currently Director of the Nuclear Information Service (NIS) and co-chair of the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation’s NGO Forum. Oli Brown has 20 years’ experience working at the intersection of security, natural resources and climate change including as a member of the Climate Security Expert Network (CSEN); his interests include peacebuilding, conflict mediation, natural resource management, environmental politics and trade policy. Sarah Njeri is a lecturer in Humanitarianism and Development in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and also sits on the Board of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx) as the Africa Regional Director.
CEOBS wishes to thank Teresa Lappe-Osthegge, who stepped down from the board in May, for her highly valued service and insightful advice. We wish her well in her continuing career. More details of our trustees are given on our About page.
