Help us identify citizen science solutions for war-related incidents that have impacted water quality in Ukrainian communities.

This challenge encourages participants to examine how the war is influencing water quality in Ukraine and about how water needs and threats may change over time, both in respect to Ukraine’s recovery but also as a result of climate change and future regulatory alignment with the European Union.
We are particularly interested in projects that are relevant to the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine, and in projects and solutions that identify problems or help plug gaps in our current understanding. The data that projects gather should contribute to the wellbeing and protection of communities and ecosystems in these areas. Ideally they will be projects that can be implemented by environmental science students and using only limited financial resources.
DigiEduHack and the GROMADA project
This Challenge will run within the framework of DigiEduHack 2024 and is part of the EU-funded GROMADA project (European universities supporting legal and community capacities for Ukraine’s environmental recovery.
